Three plans. The short version: Free is a real product with a contractor cap, Starter adds automation, projects, bulk import and a teammate, Pro adds endorsements, reports and integrations.
On every plan, including Free

None of that is an upgrade feature. A free account is genuinely usable — it's capped, not crippled.

If you're on pay as you go
Pay as you go is no longer offered to new accounts. If your organization is already on it, nothing changes: it keeps working and is billed per contractor, and you can move to Starter or Pro from Settings → Billing whenever you like. How the bill is worked out:
- Who counts: active contractors with at least one license or document on file. A contractor you've only named, or have marked inactive, costs nothing.
- How many: the most you had at once during the month, so adding someone mid-month counts for that month.
- When: at the end of each month, for the month just gone. Nothing is charged at checkout.
Settings → Billing shows how many contractors count right now, the most this month, and the bill so far — and tells you once a flat plan would cost less.
The upgrade that usually matters
It's rarely the contractor cap. It's the per-deadline alerts, because they're what reaches the contractor: the reminder that lands in your sub's inbox with an upload link is the difference between compliance being a thing you chase and a thing that mostly happens.
