Open a client and work inside it

In this article: Switch into a client's screens without leaving the console, and step back out again.

To work on a client's contractors, you open the client. Their screens then appear beneath your own navigation — you don't get handed off somewhere else and you don't sign in again.

  1. Switch in from the portfolio

From Client Portfolios, click the switch-in button on the client's row. Only clients that have authorized you can be opened.

  2. Their screens open under your navigation

Their screens appear — Compliance Summary, Action Queue, Contractors and the rest — under your agency navigation. An indicator shows which client is open, so a screen full of somebody else's contractors is never ambiguous.

  3. Do the work

Work as you would in your own organization: add contractors, request documents, attach licences, export reports.

  4. Close the client

Close the client when you're done to step back out to the portfolio.

Careful

Check the open-client indicator before you change a coverage requirement or send a request. Requirements are per organization, and setting one client's minimums on another's roster is the easiest mistake to make here.

It's still you

Opening a client isn't logging in as them. The session stays yours, everything you do is recorded in that client's activity log under your name, and what you can reach is decided by the consent they granted.

Which clients you can open

Owners and admins can open any authorized client in the portfolio. A broker can open only the clients they've been assigned — see Invite brokers and assign them clients.

A pending or withdrawn client can't be opened by anyone.
