We import license data directly from seven state databases, every day. This is the part no certificate can tell you: a contractor's insurance can be immaculate while their license was suspended in March.

How current the data is
Imported daily. What you see is what the state published in its most recent file — so a status that changed this morning may not appear until tomorrow's import.
For most purposes that's fine: licenses are suspended and reinstated over weeks, not hours. If you need certainty on a specific licence on a specific day, check the state's own portal.
What we don't cover
- The other 43 states. You can still track those licenses — enter them manually and their expiry is tracked and alerted like anything else. What you don't get is the state's live status.
- Cities and counties. Local business licenses aren't in state databases. Track those as documents.
- Arizona and New York. We publish requirement guides for both, which is educational content — we do not verify licenses in either.
Note
License verification is on every plan, Free included. It's the sharpest thing the product does and putting it behind a paywall would be an odd choice.
